QUICK READ: PINEAPPLE DOLE WHIP

I’ve tried waiting in line for things like lunch and the bathroom at out house [insert toe-tapping and watch-looking], but it didn’t have the same effect as it does at Disney, and my husband kept asking if I was okay.

I’ve attempted to sing “it’s a small world” and recreate the parks famous whimsical boat ride while playing in the bathtub with Bodhi, but it didn’t have the same impact, and we got water everywhere.

I pulled out last year’s inflatable dinosaur Halloween costume to recreate the Jurassic World experience, but it didn’t quite pan out as planned. *Cue screaming toddler*

Since we can’t physically go to Disney parks, or be successful at bringing the park experience to our homes [or is it just me?]— here’s what we can do: make their famous Pineapple Dole Whip and spin in circles in our living rooms while singing “Let it go” out of tune.

Disney did us a solid and released the flavourful recipe to keep the magic alive in our homes, and I’m 100% here for it. Also, since Mother Nature decided summer was sorta kind happening, but not really, only occasionally; here’s some [literal] sunshine in a cup!

WHAT YOU NEED:

Alexa, add frozen pineapple, pineapple juice & ice cream to the grocery list.

HOW TO MAKE IT:

Combine ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. I used a food processor and it blended up perfectly. It was that cold and creamy, yummy pineapple goodness I was looking for.

  • 2 cups frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • A big scoop of ice cream

You can scoop it into a bowl or pipe it into a cone to get that authentic theme park look [click here for how to pipe using a baggie]. This is a judgement free zone, so if you don’t want to tell anyone in your household that you’re making this delicious treat, and eat it in secret: I support you. No, I actually encourage you.

Dole is the OG Pineapple Dole Whip creator and their official how-to is here. I followed the recipe I shared above and went sans banana; it tasted just like the well-known & well-loved park treat I remember eating when I was hot and sweaty, with Mickey ears on, wandering aimlessly around the park asking myself what ride won’t make me puke?

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

Disney didn’t stop there, they also released their famous churro recipe which is everything we didn’t know we needed right now. They shared an easy instructional video on how to make these sweet-treats, and I can’t wait to try them. Is it possible to make 5.5 million churros in my kitchen, which is what the park sells annually, and eat them all white quarantine-ing? Asking for a friend.

Although Disney movies are made for children [but are they?] there is nothing better than re-watching the classics and feeling all sorts of nostalgia. Aladdin, Lion King & The Little Mermaid are my top three favourite Disney movies of all time. What are yours? And note that there are no wrong answers.

K GTG make my next click & collect order while dipping churros into my Pineapple Dole Whip.
